10th World Research Congress on Vision and Driving and the Impact of Autonomous Vehicle Technology on Healthcare

 

For more than 50 years, that’s been the mission of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, the research education arm of the Henry Ford Health Department of Ophthalmology (DIO). The DIO exists to assist and educate the visually impaired helping them maintain independence and dignity and live satisfying lives in a sighted world.
The DIO also sponsors international research congresses that annually bring together the world’s leading vision- related scientists.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

 

  1. Have a clearer understanding of the progress being made in autonomous vehicle development 

  2. Understand the role that user’s vision and cognition will have in a journey ranging from no driver assist technology to full autonomy—i.e. S.A.E.* Level zero to level five.

  3. Better appreciate the contributions that the technology enabling autonomous mobility will make in health care.

  4. Have a better idea where the health care universe will fit in the automotive industry.

  5. Appreciate the potential that big data management and the disruptive IT technology developing in the transportation industry may have in health care and wellness

  6. Have reviewed progress in the field of human-machine interface in automotive transportation and the roles that vision and cognition will play in this rapidly unfolding field
